From Emily's Grandparents

I would really, really love to be able to attend the Grandparent's day, but unfortunately it's not possible. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful day. When I was at school in England in the 1950's things were very, very different from your school today. For one thing, most schools were for either girls or boys not both together. Girls learned things like cooking and needlework, while boys did woodwork and metalwork. Some schools had uniforms, but others didn't. Boys didn't wear long trousers until they were in their teens, however cold it was. And girls always wore dresses or skirts, not trousers or tights. Things like Invitation to our Grandparents
